Following the tragic explosion in Beirut this week the below letter was sent out by Archbishop Suheil Dawani informing us of how it had impacted the local church and community and asking for support and your prayers at this time.
The Archbishop is in regular contact with Venerable Imad Zoorob, Archdeacon over Lebanon and Syria and Rector of All Saints Episcopal Church in Beirut. He was able to confirm that none of the members of the resident congregations were killed or seriously injured, but the building sustained tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage due to it's proximity to the blast, as did the Anglican Centre at the Near Eastern School of Theology complex and many of the parishioners' apartment.
The Archbishop has initiated an appeal for funds to help towards the cost of repairs and to enable the All Saints congregation to engage in an outreach programme to help those in their community who have been most impacted by this tragedy.
Please pray for the community in Lebanon who are facing this tragedy on top of the economic and health burden of the current pandemic.
