Good Friday Offering

2017 Good Friday/Easter Offering

  • Start of Lent - March 1st, 2017

  • Good Friday - April 14th, 2017

  • Easter Sunday - April 16th 2017

Since 1922, Anglican/Episcopal church congregations have supported the ministries of the Middle East Church through the Good Friday Offering. This year the situation of Christians and Churches across the Middle East has become significantly more complex and difficult in many countries. Support for their presence and witness is vital.

Good Friday collections will help fund the ministries of the dioceses in the region such as hospitals, schools and other social welfare programmes that serve local communities of all faiths.

Along with your prayers please support the long-standing tradition of allocating the Good Friday Offering, or other Easter Offering, to support the work of the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East.

Thank you so much for your generous support and prayer for the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East. I am very pleased to note that last year the Good Friday Offering for the work of the Church in this area, which includes Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, came to £6,244.72. The Church in the Middle East, which continues in its ministry in the midst of much suffering and adversity, needs all our support. The resilience of the people in the region is something that we can all learn from and I invite you to give generously to this extraordinarily important work. As we look towards Easter and the promise of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, may we remember that we are all one in Him who brings eternal life. May God continue to be gracious to us and bless us.

  • movements for peace and reconciliation

  • the development of just government

Good Friday Walk of Witness in Jerusalem

Bishop Suheil carrying a cross on Good Friday 2012

For 150 years, the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East has borne, in a special way, the responsibility of sharing the cross of Jesus.

  • - by helping to maintain the Christian witness in the Holy Land

  • - by serving all of God’s People there in a variety of ministries throughout the four dioceses,

  • - by proclaiming the gospel and promoting justice, peace and love.
